Artist Bio


B Jackson Briggs Artist Painter Photographer InstructorBorn Barbara Jackson in Portsmouth, Virginia, December 1952. She was discouraged at a young age by her family not to pursue her love of creating art.


She did not pursue her artistic expression again until after her fiftieth birthday. Then, encouraged by her husband Ronald Briggs, Barbara took a course in painting at the local community college, she found she loved to paint.

 

Barbara changed her major and went on to receive a BFA from Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA and is now pursuing a Master of Fine Art degree from Academy of Art University, San Francisco, CA. She has established her renewed passion for the arts once again.

 

With painting Barbara tries to convey a mood or atmosphere, sometimes using many different mediums, other times working with the paint creating what she sometimes feels are surprising yet wonderful results.

 

Many of her landscapes and figurative pieces are created in oils and her still life's in acrylics. Although Barbara does not strictly adhere to this guideline, sometimes creating landscapes in acrylic, and still-life's in oil. The only rule she adheres to is to use the medium that fits her mood at the time she is creating each piece.

 

For the past several years Barbara has been motivated to create portrait and figurative paintings. Her style lends itself to a unique, realistic interpretation of the individual or individuals she may portray.
